Interior design is an ever-evolving art that allows us to enhance the unique architectural elements of a space and highlight a healthy, aesthetically pleasing environment for our homebuyers. 2022 design styles are serving neutral, muted colors with an emphasis on natural textures, and we aim to showcase this timeless style in our homes across California and Idaho. Our stunning interiors, styled by Chameleon Design, tastefully tie in elements of the local landscape, and display inspiring living concepts our homebuyers love.

1. Wallpaper Accent Walls

Well-placed wallpaper creates a showstopping focal point that sets the tone for the style of a room. It adds personality that cannot be achieved with paint alone, and creates an upscale feel for homebuyers. When using a bold pattern, we let the focus fall on the artwork and accentuate the rest of the space with soothing colors, soft textures, and complementary decor elements. This interior design technique ensures the space doesn’t get overcrowded or messy. We love to apply wallpaper that acts as a backdrop behind the headboard in a bedroom, above a sink in a powder room, or in a bonus room as we did in Verve Plan 2 at University Park. Depending on the choice of pattern, wallpaper can make a space seem bigger. We demonstrate this with our application of this medium in Citrine Residence 7.

2. Earth-Tones and Desert Hues

While filling up the house with plants is a trendy move, it isn’t for everyone. Some homebuyers desire a more minimalistic interior, and some simply lack the green thumb skills necessary to sustain an interior jungle. Sometimes utilizing the colors that surround us in nature is the simplest and most impactful way to boast your love for Mother Earth. Think sandy, desert hues that are subdued and soothing—beiges, taupes, browns. These neutral tones are versatile and can easily be incorporated into a modern design. The use of earthy colors and desert hues is a design style perfect for neighborhoods like PGA WEST® and University Park, due to their location in Coachella Valley, California. This trend is proudly displayed in Citrine Residence 5 and Citrine Residence 7 at Signature PGA WEST®, and in Esprit Residence 2 at University Park.

3. White Interiors

Walking into a Woodbridge home will always feel fresh and exciting. One way we achieve this feeling is by maximizing the use of white in our home designs. We often opt for painting the walls white in our PGA WEST® and University Park model homes, while adding tasteful pops of color to add just the right amount of intrigue and playfulness. This design trick is a great way to let louder elements and decor shine, as we demonstrate in Citrine Residence 8 and Jewel Residence 2. A largely white palette also allows the eyes to rest and creates the visual illusion of a larger space. Coupled with tasteful accent chairs, throw pillows, artwork, and even a colored kitchen backsplash, white walls create the perfect foundation for a clean interior.

4. Slab Door Cabinets

Slab door cabinets sport a flat, frameless front facade and fit nicely with modern, contemporary, and mid-century design styles. They’re great additions to any kitchen, bathroom, or built-in shelving unit due to their uncomplicated and timeless aesthetic. It’s easy to elevate this classic look with a glossy finish, which adds a hint of glamour. In the kitchen at Esprit Residence 1 at University Park, we styled the slab door cabinets with pull tab handles to create a crisp, clean, minimalist design. Similarly, in Nova Residence 4, we pair slab door cabinets with a white, glossy finish and contemporary pulls for a low maintenance, high quality feel.

5. Statement-Making Staircases

Certain interior elements are so iconic, we can’t help but use them in almost every model home we design. One example is the stair rail system, which greatly affects a homebuyer's first impression of a space. While most homebuyers don’t see a staircase as a ‘make-it-or-break-it’ item, it’s a design element that has the ability to open or enclose a space. This visual effect impacts the overall aesthetic and feel of a home and is incredibly important. The stairs in Woodbridge Pacific homes are modern and sleek, with clean lines to ensure the space feels as open and light as possible. When designed appropriately, staircases become a standout element that amplify the drama and style of a room. We demonstrate their power to unite a variety of modern style elements in the foyer at Esprit Residence 4 at University Park.
